Together we are developing Sahlgrenska University Hospital for a sustainable future. We are transforming healthcare with the goal of becoming Europe's leading university hospital by 2032. Together with patients, we work for quality, accessibility, patient safety, research, education, and innovation – in a cohesive healthcare system in the Västra Götaland region. Our vision and goals aim for care of the highest quality, where the patient is always in focus. We provide healthcare locally and regionally, but also highly specialized care to patients across the country and abroad. Our employees are our strength and contribute to knowledge exchanges nationally and internationally. With digital tools and new working methods, we can simplify everyday life at the hospital and offer modern, accessible, and effective care of the highest quality.
Are you our new colleague? We are looking for someone interested in research and development who wants to work closely with hospital staff to contribute to good and safe care.
About us
The medical libraries, together with the HTA center (HTA - Health Technology Assessment), are part of the evaluation unit, whose goal is to ensure that decisions within the Västra Götaland region's healthcare are based on the best available evidence and are sustainable within the framework of available resources.
The mission of the medical libraries is to support employees at Sahlgrenska University Hospital regarding evidence-based practices, research, education, development, and innovation (FoUUI). We offer this through services in information retrieval and reference management, as well as guidance and teaching in these areas. The libraries also provide literature, reference databases, journals, and clinical knowledge support. Within the unit, there are three physical libraries at Sahlgrenska, Östra, and Mölndal hospitals. The library's mission also includes active participation in the HTA center's work with extensive information retrieval and review of scientific studies.
Making the library's digital services accessible and further developing them occurs in collaboration with other medical libraries in the Västra Götaland region and is an important part of the operations.
Job responsibilities:
As a librarian, you will have varied tasks as we in the workgroup take joint responsibility for driving and developing the operations. The position includes working at the information desk, managing the media collection, purchasing literature, and cataloging. Additionally, you will work with advanced information retrieval for hospital staff, provide guidance and teaching in literature search and reference management, and participate in HTA work.
Job responsibilities and areas of responsibility may be adapted based on previous experiences and knowledge and according to the needs of the operations.
Are you the one we are looking for?
A degree in library and information science is required, as well as the ability to express yourself easily in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing.
You have experience and a strong interest in information retrieval, work methodically, and are familiar with the scientific work process. You are structured, meticulous, and responsible, and are comfortable working independently as well as with others. In interactions with library users, it is important that you are outgoing and have a pedagogical approach. Previous work in a research or medical library is advantageous, as is experience with media collections and cataloging.
We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
Warm welcome with your application!
